Leiligheta mi i Oslo er nå omtrent tom; bare flyttekassene, kofferten og bærbar-pc'en står igjen. Alt som skal pakkes har blitt pakket, nedvaskingen er unnagjort, og de tomme Urge-flaskene har blitt pantet. Mine kjære foreldre (aka mor og far), som kjørte meg til Oslo for å gi meg en håndsrekning med rydding og vasking (TUSEN TAKK!), kjører nå E6 den strakaste veien hjem til Alnes (eller, iallefall E6 heilt til Dombås).

På torsdag står jeg opp ekstra tidlig og hopper på et fly (06:55) i retning Montreal - med en liten svipptur innom Frankfurt på veien. Med litt flaks klarer jeg å navigere meg gjennom flyplassen der uten å gå glipp av flyet videre til Montreal. Så, når flyet endelig lander i Canada får vi se om immigrasjonsmyndighetene slipper meg gjennom toll og tull og slikt. Ryktene sier at prosessen gjennom sikkerhetskontroll, immigrasjonsmyndigheter og toll tar opp imot 3 timer. Urk...

Midlertidig leilighet har jeg også fått. Forhåpentligvis har jeg funnet en mer permanent leilighet (jeg kjøper ikke, men leier) innen flyttekassene mine ankommer Canada i en container sammen med flyttelass fra andre Funcom-folk, så jeg slipper å drasse rundt på kassene eller betale for oppbevaring eller noe slikt tullball.

My apartment in Oslo is now just about empty; only the moving boxes, suitcase and my laptop remain. Everything that needs to be packed has been packed, the cleaning is done, and the empty Urge-bottles have been returned for recycling. My dear parents (aka mother and father), who drove me to Oslo to give a hand with the cleaning (A THOUSAND THANKS!), are now driving on the E6 back home towards Alnes (or, at least E6 all the way to Dombås).

On Thursday I'll get up extra early and jump on a plane (6:55am) in direction of Montreal - with a small stop in Frankfurt along the way. With a bit of luck I'll manage to navigate through the airport there without missing the plane onwards to Montreal. Then, when the plane finally lands in Canada we'll see if the immigration authorities let me through customs and all that. Rumours have it that the process through security, immigration and customs can take up to 3 hours. Urgh...

Temporary apartment has also been taken care of. Hopefully I'll have found a more permanent apartment (I'm not buying, but renting) before my moving boxes arrive in Canada in a container alongside moving loads from other Funcom-people, so I won't have to drag those boxes around or pay for storage or any such nonsense.

Well, that was that! Next status-update? Maybe after I've arrived in Montreal. See you, Norway!

En liten førjuls-oppdateringA small before-christmas-update

Ahh. Kort hår føles godt. En lettelse, bokstavelig talt. Ingen flere lange hår i suppa. Eller, på brunost-skiva, rettere sagt.

Etter å ha gått rundt som et langhåra troll hele sommeren har jeg altså endelig tatt til fornuften og kommet meg til en frisør. Nå som det begynner å bli snø og kaldt er det på tide å bli kvitt litt døde utvekster (hår) på toppen så en får kjenne den friske vinterlufta på kroppen (hodet, og ørene). Kanskje litt omvendt av hvordan jeg burde gjøre det, men pytt sann. Det er bare jul en gang (sammenhengende fra oktober til januar) i året (?).

Fant en skikkelig koselig frisørsalong ikke langt fra leiligheten. Den het "Salong Lady & Lord", og har blitt drevet av samme mann i 38 år! Både dame og herre-frisør som navnet tilsier, med adskilte områder for hver. Kom dit først klokka 08:00 i går (jepp, de åpner 08:00) men da var det fullt hele dagen. Så jeg bestilte time til i dag, og på en halv time rett før stengetid fikk jeg en kjapp, presis og velgjort hårklipp, uten at det kostet meg allverdens! Absolutt godkjent.

Ellers? Holder selvfølgelig på å forberede meg mentalt til Førjulsturneringa. I år vinner vi muligens kanskje helt sikkert (right)! Skulle kanskje hatt et par nye sko, men får se hva det blir til - det er ikke på skoene det kommer an på, men på innsatsvilje og vafler! Må vel begynne å pakke snart også - fredag (muligens torsdag) tar jeg nattbussen til nordvestlandet og kystens perle; Alnes. Ankommer da Moa sånn ca en halv time før første kamp på Godøy-hallen lørdag morgen. Plenty tidsnok, med andre ord.

After having walked around as a long-haired troll all summer I've finally come to my senses and managed to drag myself to a hairdresser. Now that the snow is starting to fall and it's getting cold it's time to remove some dead growths (hair) up top so one can really feel the refreshing winter air on one's body (head, and ears). Maybe a bit backwards compared to how I should have done it, but who cares? It's only Christmas once (continuously from October to January) once a year (?).

Found a real cozy hair salon not far from the apartment. It was called "Salong Lady & Lord", and has been run by the same man for 38 years! Hair salon for both women and men, as the name implies, with separate sections for each. Arrived there at 8:00am yesterday (yep, they open at 8), but it was already fully booked the entire day. So I booked an appointment for today, and during the span of half an hour just before closing time I received a quick, precise and well done haircut, without it costing the entire world! I definitely approve.

What else? I am of course preparing mentally for "Førjulsturneringa" (Note: pre-christmas football tournament). This year we'll maybe possibly most certainly win (right)! Should perhaps get some new shoes, but we'll see what happens - it's not the shoes that make the football player, but commitment and waffles! Must start packing soon as well, I suppose - Friday (possibly Thursday) I'll take the night bus to the northwest of Norway and the pearl of the coast; Alnes. Will arrive at Moa around half an hour before our first match in the Godøy-hall Saturday morning. Plenty of time to spare, in other words.
